Breaking Ground: Earthwork at the Amery Athletic Facilities Project

In spring 2024, the Amery School District kicked off an exciting upgrade to its athletic facilities—and J & S General Contracting was proud to be part of it. This major project included new turf football and baseball fields, a synthetic track, natural turf softball fields, and a range of site improvements designed to support student athletes and the local community.

Our role focused on the earthwork phase, which laid the foundation for everything to come. From site clearing and demolition to grading, trenching, and utility installation, our team worked hard to prepare the grounds with precision and care. We also implemented erosion control and stormwater systems to protect the environment and keep the site safe and compliant.

Despite weather challenges and tight deadlines, our crews stayed on track. Through teamwork, extended hours, and smart planning, we helped keep the project moving forward.

With sustainability and safety at the core of our work, we reused native soils where possible, managed groundwater with temporary basins, and followed strict safety protocols every step of the way.

The result? A solid foundation for a vibrant, long-lasting athletic complex that will serve Amery students and families for years to come.
